In the east of Luxembourg you can find the oldest city in the Grand Duchy: Echternach. But other well-known cities and castles are also located in the eastern part of the country. These include, for example, Vianden with its castle, Beaufort Castle, Fels Castle and Bourscheid Castle.
Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland with the famous Mullerthal Trail, which is also located in this region, is ideal for hiking.
In addition, Luxembourg is almost exclusively separated from Germany in the east by the rivers Our and Sauer. So a trip to Trier or the Eifel in Germany is easily possible from here. A visit to the Teufelsschlucht dinosaur park in Ernzen is therefore a good idea when you are on holiday with children.
