The moated castle Haus Graven is a wonderful gem in the middle of the countryside in west Germany. It is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, on the city limits of Langenfeld and Solingen, and invites you to visit on weekends with a wonderful café in the inner courtyard and various exhibitions.

The small medieval castle complex was rebuilt after the Thirty Years War in 1656 and has been owned by the city of Langenfeld since 2010 (initially rented and now also bought).

The operation of the facility was transferred from the city to the support association Wasserburg Haus Graven e.V. He is responsible for the ‘Burgstube’ café as well as for the many different cultural events.

The moated castle is located in Langenfeld-Wiescheid, very close to the glider airport.
The address for the navigation system is: Langenfeld, Graf-von-Mirbach-Weg 15. You can park in the parking lot of the glider airport and reach the moated castle after about 5 minutes on foot. There is no parking right at Haus Graven!

You can find the website for traveling by bus here.

Finally, an insider tip:

The beautiful Hackhausen Castle is located very close to the Haus Graven moated castle. It is privately owned but can be rented for festivities.
Since there are no parking spaces at the castle, a 30-minute hike from the moated castle to Hackhausen Castle is recommended. It is not that big and there is no gastronomy or anything like that, but it is simply beautiful to look at!
As this is a private property, I have not published a photo of the castle here either.

This is the link to the official website of Hackhausen Castle.

If you liked the article, I wish you a wonderful trip to the moated castle in Germany and maybe also to Hackhausen Castle. Enjoy a delicious piece of cake, look at an exhibition and hike through beautiful nature!
I would of course be very happy about a comment whether you liked it as much as I did!

All the best,

your Diana
